  • The Simi Valley Family YMCA will host its annual Breakfast With Santa on Saturday, December 7, featuring a fresh-cooked breakfast, hot cocoa, photos with Santa, a snow play area and holiday crafts. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Families can then select a newly-arrived Christmas tree at the YMCA’s Christmas tree lot operated by the Simi Valley Y’s Men’s Club.

The breakfast costs $20 for YMCA members and $25 for nonmembers, with children 3 and under admitted free. Advance registration is required at www.sevymca.org/breakfast-santa.

The YMCA’s tree lot will have about 750 Noble, Douglas and Nordmann fir trees from 3' to 9' tall. The trees are grown in Oregon, harvested, and then packed in ice for their trip south to the Y. Once they arrive, they are unloaded by LDS Church volunteers, given a fresh cut at the base, put in water and set out for display. Y’s Men’s Club members and volunteers staff the tree lot. Trees go on sale December 6.

Proceeds from tree sales go to organizations in the community, underserved families and YMCA programs. Christmas tree lot hours are 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The tree lot and Breakfast with Santa are at the Simi Valley Family YMCA (3200 Cochran St., corner of Galena Ave. and Cochran St.). For breakfast sponsorship opportunities, contact Dani Hutchison at dhutchison@sevymca.org.

  • As our community continues to recover from the Mountain Fire, we want to provide a space and more opportunities to get some temporary reprieve through art and creation.

In the days leading up to our Holiday Art Market, we will be hosting free-to-attend events in the gallery, including activities within the fields of music, visual art and literature.

This programming is kindly being put together with the help of world-class artists who wish to support the community and respond to adversity through their various forms of creativity. Everyone is invited to join us in the gallery, as these events have been designed for a general audience with no prior experience necessary. Come along to learn, explore your own creativity or just hang out with like-minded members of the community.

If you would like to show appreciation for these programs and help support Mountain Fire relief efforts, please consider making a donation to the VCCF Ventura County Wildfire Relief & Recovery Fund.
