The Fermentation House will host an intimate evening of live music on Friday, March 13, from 6:00–9:00 PM, featuring Southern California artists Dwight Knight and Jayden Secor. The show brings together two distinctive voices in roots-driven and country-rock music for a special night of songwriting, storytelling, and high-energy performance.

Jayden Secor is a country rock artist from Ventura County who delivers a sound that blends modern country with classic southern rock, psychedelic jam, and ’90s grunge influences. As of 2026, Secor has continued to write and grow his extensive catalogue of music while touring regularly with his band across the United States.

Sharing the bill is Dwight Knight, a true rock ’n’ roll raconteur and multi-instrumentalist known for his time with Spitoon, an innovative hick-hop band that shared members with acts such as Heart, Puddle of Mudd, and The Knack. Hailing from Rubidoux, California, Knight’s music is rooted in vivid storytelling that captures life, love, and loss—often delivered with a twang, a grin, and a touch of country flair.

This performance holds special significance as Knight is a former resident of Santa Paula, making the show a homecoming of sorts. After an 18-year hiatus from live performance, he has returned to the Southern California music scene, working on his upcoming record Rust Belt and reconnecting with audiences through intimate venues, coffee houses, and songwriter rounds.

This also marks the first time both artists will appear live in Santa Paula, making the evening a special debut for each in the city. Set against the warm, rustic backdrop of the Fermentation House, the evening promises a compelling blend of seasoned storytelling and emerging country-rock energy.

On the occasion of her first comprehensive museum survey show, please join Vietnamese American artist and UCSB Alumna Tiffany Chung for an intimate artist talk followed by a moderated Q&A session with AD&A Museum Director, Gabriel Ritter. Chung will discuss the overarching themes and evolution of her artistic practice over the past 25, as well as the process and inspiration behind her site-specific, immersive sound and video installation, Spheres of Time (2026), exclusively on view at UCSB’s AlloSphere.

Tiffany Chung is an interdisciplinary artist globally recognized for her research-driven practice exploring the intersections of history, culture, and geography on both local and global scales. Working across diverse media—including cartography, embroidery, painting, photography, sculpture, video, text, and music—her projects trace shifts in cultural, geopolitical, and natural landscapes shaped by the upheavals of war, displacement, disaster, and global trade.

What can Shakespeare – or literature more generally – tell us about ethics? In the Pacific Views Talk for Spring 2026, Professor Jim Kearney (English) discusses the ways that Shakespearean theater invites its audiences to be entertained by the vicarious experience of the ethical, often ethics in some extreme or impossible circumstance.

What does it feel like to be enjoined to avenge your father’s death? What is it like to banish your daughter or disavow your community? To forgive the unforgivable? To murder? Shakespeare and his fellow early modern playwrights inherited and developed rhetorical and philosophical practices geared toward the creation of immersive virtual experience.

This talk approaches Shakespearean theater as a lab or platform in which the experience of ethics in extreme circumstances is simulated. Drawing on his new book Shakespearean Ethics in Extremity: Phenomenology, Theater, Experience (Oxford University Press, 2025), Kearney investigates Shakespeare’s attempts to capture – or conjure or discover or create – forms of what we might call ethical experience.

Jim Kearney is a Professor of English and Chair of the English Department at UCSB. He specializes in early modern literature with research interests that include ethical experience, the history of emotion, phenomenology (including the phenomenology of theater), various materialisms, religious identity and transformation, and the history of reading.

Kearney’s approximately 45-minute presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.

On Tuesday, March 17th at 7PM, the Ventura County Interfaith Community will try to answer the question of Why We Do Interfaith Dialogue. It will do so by suggesting that interfaith dialogue is a pathway both to peace and to personal growth.

Celebrating its 40th year, the California Strawberry Festival returns Saturday and Sunday, May 16 and 17 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds (10 W. Harbor Blvd., Ventura, CA 93001). The family-friendly event features Strawberry-themed favorites, including strawberry nachos, chocolate-dipped strawberries, strawberry kabobs,
strawberry popcorn, margaritas and more.

Festival goers can also enjoy nearly 150 arts and crafts vendors, an expanded Strawberryland for kids, live entertainment on three stages, carnival rides, and a "build-your-own" Strawberry Shortcake Experience.
Trays of freshly picked, vine-ripened strawberries are available for purchase at the festival and used in festival strawberry-themed foods.

Since its inception, the nonprofit festival has contributed over $4.9 million to Southern California nonprofit organizations.

Green & Blue: A Coastal Celebration, is our biggest fundraiser of the year, taking place in the beautiful gardens at Rancho La Patera & Stow House in Goleta, CA. Each year, this event brings together more than 500 guests from across the tri-county region. At Green & Blue we celebrate the many accomplishments this organization has achieved over our years and help raise critical funds to ensure EDC remains strong to protect this region for those who love it now and those who will follow in our footsteps. Guests enjoy gourmet food, local wine and beer, lively auctions, and the presentation of the 2026 Environmental Hero Award. Past awardees include actress Jane Fonda, musician Jack Johnson, and Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, who are locally rooted, internationally recognized environmentalists.

Camerata Pacifica Principal Pianist Gilles Vonsattel takes centerstage, once again, for his second solo recital in three weeks in conjunction with “Beethoven 32,” on Friday, April 10, 7:00 pm, at Santa Barbara’s Music Academy of the West, and Sunday, April 12, 2026, 8:00 pm, at Zipper Hall in Downtown Los Angeles. “Beethoven 32” is the chamber music collective’s three-year Beethoven cycle featuring Vonsattel on all 32 of Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas.

Vonsattel opens the recital with Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 7 in D Major, Op. 10, No. 3, an often-overlooked gem filled with emotional exploration. He also performs Piano Sonata No. 24 in F-sharp Major, Op. 78, “à Thérèse,” one of the composer’s own favorite sonatas, and the divine and mysterious Piano Sonata No. 28 in A Major, Op. 101.

Swiss-born American pianist Gilles Vonsattel boasts remarkable versatility and artistic originality. Winner of an Avery Fisher Career Grant, the 2016 Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award, and top prizes in the Naumburg and Geneva competitions, he has graced prestigious stages worldwide, enthralling audiences with recitals and chamber performances, and collaborating with renowned orchestras including the Munich Philharmonic and the Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco symphonies. As a champion of new music, he has premiered compositions by celebrated composers such as Jörg Widmann, Heinz Holliger, Anthony Cheung, and George Benjamin. He is an alum of CMS’s Bowers Program and has earned degrees from Columbia University and the Juilliard School. Today, Vonsattel shares his passion for music as a Professor of Piano at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
