    A protégé of Itzhak Perlman, Randall Goosby debuted with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 2021 at the age of 25 and has since risen to the first rank of international violin soloists. Acclaimed for the sensitivity and intensity of his musicianship as well as his determination to make music more accessible, Goosby is passionate about highlighting the works and influence of underrepresented composers like William Grant Still and Florence Price.

  • Join this unique class to immerse yourself into the philosophy and the beauty of Ikebana Flower Arrangements, a six-hundred-year old Japanese cultural art form that is loved and practiced worldwide. With instructions from the teacher, you will collect branch and green materials off the lands of the Botanical Garden to create your very first Ikebana arrangement. You will learn the elements of Line, Color and Mass and the principles of Asymmetry, Space and Depth to incorporate into your design. Your completed project, a Moribana design, will adorn your home with its serene beauty. Please wear comfortable shoes, gloves, and bring pruning shears and a lunch.   • Brittney Burchett is a 30 year old from Ventura, California. She began singing on stage at the age of 6 and started singing even before she could speak. Music has always been a big part of her life, but she didn’t start writing it until she was 16 (when she first picked up the guitar). Since then, she has written over 300 original songs in multiple bands and other musical projects. Her singing styles include but aren’t limited to jazz, blues, R&B, punk, country, rock, and even a little opera. She is mostly compared to the late singer Janis Joplin.

    This Free Day, we’ll be teaching some kid-friendly ways to up-cycle your old clothes and turn them into something you love again! Bring any old clothes, shoes or accessories that you are ready to give some new style to, and we will be painting, dying, distressing, and learning some basic sewing skills!   • A longtime member of Los Angeles' roots-rock community, John Surge has spent countless nights onstage, filling the room with a blend of roadhouse country and rocking honky tonk. Between songs, snatches of unfiltered conversation from the audience will make their way to his ears. 'Almost Time', his second album as frontman of John Surge and the Haymakers, is filled with those barroom tales. The album releases on Blackbird Record Label September 15th, 2023

    This group is popular for their variety of song choices that surf the various waves of tiki music and for their musical flexibility of styles using acoustic instruments such as the ukulele and kiku, upright bass, percussion, and Hawaiian Steel guitar and guitar.
