    Join us for a mesmerizing and heartfelt celebration of life and remembrance at OPAC's annual Día de los Muertos Celebration. This year, we're excited to kickstart the festivities with a month-long Community Altar at The Collection.

    And then join us on Saturday, November 2 for the main event at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center where you'll immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Mexican and Filipino culture as we pay homage to our ancestors with vibrant altars, captivating traditional music and dance, and the irresistible aroma of authentic cuisine. This unique cultural experience promises to be a poignant journey filled with colorful calacas, marigold-adorned ofrendas, and a profound sense of community. Whether you're new to this tradition or a seasoned participant, our Día de los Muertos celebration welcomes all to come together, honor the past, and embrace the beauty of life's eternal cycle.   • We are thrilled to partner once more with the Santa Paula Art Museum and Pierce Brothers Cemetery to present a community-wide celebration of Dia de los Muertos for the city of Santa Paula!

    As one of three celebration sites located in the city, the Agriculture Museum will host cultural dance performances, display ofrendas created and contributed by people in the community, and provide fun craft activities and face-painting. We will also be serving horchata and have pan de muerto!

  • Celebrate Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with OPAC!

    Join OPAC for another year celebrating culture and tradition through our signature event, Dia de los Muertos! The event brings the community together for stunning local art exhibitions, inspiring performances by local dancers, poets and singers, guest speakers, artisan vendors, traditional food, children's activities, community altars, and so much more. This year, we will again be acknowledging Araw ng mga Patay, the Filipino Dia de los Muertos.

  • Ben de la Cruz is an award-winning documentary video producer and multimedia journalist. He is currently a senior visuals editor. In addition to overseeing the multimedia coverage of NPR's global health and development, his responsibilities include working on news products for emerging platforms including Amazon's and Google's smart screens. He is also part of a team developing a new way of thinking about how NPR can collaborate and engage with our audience as well as photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, animators, and graphic designers to build new visual storytelling avenues on NPR's website, social media platforms, and through live events.
  • A federal audit finds Medicare spending on hospice care for patients in nursing homes increased by 69 percent to $4.9 billion over just four years. Much of the increase was due to longer duration of hospice care in nursing homes compared with services provided at home.
  • Día de Los Muertos: Paper Mâché Workshop

    Local sculptor, Jose Galvan, will lead this workshop to make two large scale sculptures of El Catrin and La Catrina for Día de Los Muertos.

  • Join the Cal Lutheran community and the Latin American Student Organization for a Día de los Muertos celebration honoring the lives of deceased loves ones. Día de los Muertos is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and Central and South America that reunites the living and the dead using altars made for loved ones who have passed. The evening will include family-friendly activities such as face painting, crafts, a piñata, music and raffles. Food will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. A traditional altar will be displayed, and community members are invited to bring pictures of their loved ones to include.

    Admission is free. The ground-level patio is located past the breezeway of Ullman Commons in front of the Mail Center. Sponsored by Student Life and the Latin American Student Organization.
