Military Base On South Coast Issues Warning About Drone Use In Restricted Areas

There’s been concern about people flying drones in restricted airspace near brush fires on the Central, and South Coasts this summer.

Now, a local military base has issued a warning, after some reported drone sightings in restricted areas.

Officials with Naval Base Ventura County say the craft didn’t interfere with flights, but apparently were closer than the five mile restricted unmanned aerial vehicle flight zone.

UAV’s are not permitted to fly within five miles of any military or civilian airfields, so the restrictions also include the use of drones around Camarillo, Oxnard, and Santa Paula Airports.
