Ventura County Health Department Tests Two People For Coronavirus

Ventura County Public Health officials say they've tested two people for novel coronavirus.

One person has already been confirmed to be negative, while the test resuts are still pending on the second.

The second person has been placed in isolation while test results are pending.  No confirmed cases have been reported on the Central or South Coasts.

There have been several confirmed cases in the United States.

The illness has killed hundreds of people in China, and left thousands sick. The novel coronavirus is a new version of a common group of virusus, with symptoms similar to the flu.

Despite the attention the virus is receiving, Ventura County Health officials say the health risk from getting it in the U.S. is currently very low.
