Ventura County Congresswoman Shuts Down DC Office After Visitor Tests Positive For Coronavirus

A Ventura County congresswoman has shut down her Washington, D.C. office for the week, after learning that a visitor there last week there tested positive for coronavirus.

In a statement, Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village says she consulted with state and federal health officials, and that the risk of  exposure to her and her staff is considered low.

But, the congresswoman says because she and her staff meet with so many people weekly, she decided to close her office for the week and have everyone work remotely.

She says no one from her office has shown any symptoms of being ill. Brownley’s district offices in Thousand Oaks and Oxnard are unaffected, and remain open.
