Ventura County Congresswoman Introduces Legislation Intended To Help Boost Home Ownership

A Ventura County congresswoman has introduced two bills intended to help make home ownership more accessible to families. The bills by Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village would bring back two expired tax breaks intended to make a home purchase more affordable.

One bill would make permanent the income tax deduction for mortgage insurance premiums. The other would make permanent an income tax exclusion for mortgage debt forgiveness.

The two tax breaks expired in 2017.
