Storm Related Highway Closure In Santa Barbara County Called "Indefinite"

Debris, flooding close Highway 154 east of Lake Cachuma

A major highway connecting the Central and South Coasts remains closed and there is no estimate of when it may reopen.

It’s a key link between northern and southern Santa Barbara Counties. Highway 154 was closed just east of Lake Cachuma over the weekend when a culvert became clogged by debris.

Colin Jones, with Caltrans, says it’s closed from Santa Barbara to the Highway 154-246 interchange.

Motorists can use Highway 101 to travel between Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley. Jones says crews are working to unclog the culvert, and repair damage to the roadway, but it could take days.
