South Coast Port Has Biggest Year In Its History; Bananas Top Banana For Imports

A South Coast port has just completed the biggest year of moving cargo through its facilities in its history.

The Port of Hueneme handled 1.6 million tons of cargo during the just completed fiscal year. That’s up more than 8% from the year before.

Pineapple and melon imports grew by 50%. But, bananas are the top banana when it comes to produce imports, with an estimated 3.3 billion coming through the port a year.

The port moves an estimated $9 billion dollars in goods a year, with the cargo volume growing 44% since 2009.
