A Positive Sign: New COVID-19 Case Numbers On Central, South Coasts Lowest In Weeks

There’s some encouraging news in efforts to control COVID-19 on the Central and South Coasts.  For the first time in weeks, the new daily case count is below a thousand in the region.

Ventura County reported 285 new cases on Friday.  It’s the county’s lowest daily total in weeks.  Santa Barbara County is reporting 238 cases, and San Luis Obispo County 209.  The three-county total for the day is 732.

Public Health officials say the number of new coronavirus related deaths remains concerning.  There were 27 Friday, including 16 in Ventura County and 11 in Santa Barbara County.

The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic passed the 900 threshold, with 918 overall.
