A memorial service was held Saturday at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks to pay tribute to another one of the victims of the November 7th Borderline Bar mass shooting.

Twenty-three-year-old Justin Meek graduated from Cal Lutheran in May with a degree in criminal justice.

Melissa Maxwell-Doherty with CLU read a statement from his family.

"Justin was a genuine, kind, loving, caring, compassionate, hard-working, talented man and a friend to everyone he met. He was a loving son, protective brother and hero to all," she read.

Meek worked as a respite caregiver for Channel Islands Social Services and had dreams of joining the Coast Guard and later the military. He was remembered as a talented singer, country line dancer and athlete and a person who wanted to help and protect the safety of others.

This was one of the many funerals and memorial services taking place to remember the 12 people who were murdered in the shooting rampage earlier this month.
