Some South Coast communities are cashing in on the legalization of marijuana, with taxes to help fund local government. Voters approved three marijuana business tax proposals in Ventura County.
In Ojai, Measure G was approved with a 70% yes vote. It’s a 3% tax on retail marijuana sales, which could eventually grow to a 10% tax.
City of Ventura voters okayed Measure I, which includes a variety of taxes on marijuana related sales and cultivation.
And, voters in unincorporated parts of Ventura County approved Measure O, which sets up taxes on marijuana cultivation, as well as limits on the amounts of growing.
