Man Sought For San Diego County Murder Arrested In Ventura County

A man wanted for a San Diego County murder has been arrested in Ventura County. Forrest Robert Brantley was spotted and arrested on a Ventura street Wednesday morning.  Tuesday afternoon, someone reported seeing him near Ventura College, prompting an hour-long campus lockdown.

San Diego Police identified Brantley as a suspect in the Thanksgiving morning fatal stabbing of a man near the San Diego Sports Arena.

Detectives looked for him in San Diego County, but also issued an alert that he might be returning to Ventura County.

The 38-year-old man was on parole for a number of convictions. He was known to Ventura Police. They arrested him for a 2016 incident in which detectives say he stole crucifixes from the San Buenaventura Mission’s gift shop, and used them as weapons in random attacks on some people.
