A longtime South Coast law enforcement officer and police chief is retiring. Commander Tim Hagel has been Thousand Oaks Police Chief for six years, and a member of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office for more than 30.
He’s worked in different areas of the agency during his career, notably with programs to reach out to at-risk youths. But, during the last year he focused on dealing with the aftermath of the Borderline Bar and Grill Attack. He provided a key link to the families of victims and to survivors.
Hagel will retire in January. The Sheriff’s Office and the city will work together to choose a successor. The county has a contract to provide law enforcement services to the city.
