A Ventura County congresswoman has introduced two pieces of legislation to try to keep quality medical care available to veterans. Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village is sponsoring the bills.
One of the bills would require an independent audit of the VA’s medical care budget, so Congress can insure veterans are getting the help they need. In some past years, the VA ran out of money during the fiscal year. Congress had to step in with emergency funding to keep assistance flowing to veterans.
The other bill would fix existing rules which limit the VA’s ability to expand care to veterans in underserved communities across the country.
