Judge Grants Restraining Order Against Ventura County Church Defying Coronavirus Safety Orders

A judge granted a temporary restraining order sought by Ventura County against a church which has been defying cornavirus safety orders. Ventura County officials say Godspeak Calvary Chapel in Newbury Park has repeatedly held large worship services in defiance of state and county coronavirus safety orders limiting large indoor gatherings.

The church has been warned to stop holding the indoor services. One of the church's pastors has said unless there was a court order, they would not stop holding the services.

The county took the issue to court, and was granted a temporary restraining order Friday. The church can still hold outdoor services with masks and social distancing, or online.
