The CHP helped round up some fugitives in an exclusive South Coast neighborhood. But, officers say they weren’t dangerous, and in fact they were friendly.

A group of alpacas escaped from their owner’s yard in Hope Ranch Sunday morning.

CHP and Santa Barbara County Animal Service officers responding to the scene found roaming alpacas. An animal control officer remembered they are herd animals.

So, they were able to put a rope leash on one to lead it back home, and the others followed. The animals were unhurt.
