Former Schools Employee In Ventura County Pleads Guilty To Stealing Thousands In Student Lunch Money

A former school employee in Ventura County could face up to eight years in jail after admitting stealing thousands of dollars collected for school lunches. Retha Mae Drummond worked for the Moorpark Unified School District for 15 years. During her last four years with the district, the Moorpark woman worked in the child nutrition department.

She helped process money collected from food and drink sales. Ventura County prosecutors say she routinely stole a portion of the cash. The 63 year old woman pled guilty to five felony counts of misappropriation of public funds. Drummond paid partial restitution of more than $150,000.
