Five Additional Coronavirus Deaths Reported On Central, South Coasts; Total Now At 162

The death toll continues to mount from coronavirus on the Central and South Coast.  Five additional deaths were reported Wednesday, with three in Santa Barbara County and two in Ventura County.

162 total deaths have now been reported in the region.

There have been 79 deaths in Ventura County, 67 in Santa Barbara County, and 16 in San Luis Obispo County.  The latest deaths were all older adults with preexisting health conditions.

180 new coronavirus cases were reported in the region Wednesday, with 76 in Ventura County and 60 in Santa Barbara County.  The overall number of cases now tops the 16,500 mark, but the numbers are considered to be preliminary.

Issues with the state’s data system mean the exact number in each county could be off slightly for the next few days.  State health officials are working to resolve the problem.
