Firefighters are mopping up a small brush fire which at one point threatened some buildings on the South Coast. The Potrero Fire burned about eight acres of land in the Newbury Park area.

The blaze started at around 4 Friday afternoon. It grew to about eight acres before Ventura County firefighters aided by helicopters and air tankers stopped the spread of the flames. Full containment is expected by around 10 Friday night. No structure damage has been reported. There’s no word yet on the cause of the blaze.
