Coronavirus Numbers Grow On Central, South Coasts; 38 Cases Now Diagnosed

The number of coronvirus cases across the state, and on the Central and South Coasts continues to grow, which has led to a drastic order shutting down many activities in the state for weeks.

Governor Gavin Newsom's order calls for California’s 40 million residents to stay at home.  The governor issued the state at home order Thursday night, citing predictions by state health officials that 56% of the state’s residents may get the virus in the next eight weeks.

As part of the order, all nonessential businesses have to close, and travel needs to be limited to essential places like to the store or the doctor’s office. You can still do things like walk the dog. The only time you should leave home is for essential activities.

There are now 38 documented cases of coronavirus in the region. Ventura County has 17, San Luis Obispo County 13, and Santa Barbara County eight.
