Firefighters aided by rain and snow are continuing to move towards full containment of Santa Barbara County's Cave Fire. The 3100 acre blaze is 85% contained as of Saturday.
Caltrans is hoping to reopen Highway 154 over San Marcos Pass Monday, a week after it was closed by the fire. Crews have been working to repair damaged guardrails.
The key factor in full containment is the weather. Santa Barbara County Fire officials are hoping to reach full containment by mid-week, but they say weather will play a central role in it.
At it's peak, more than 5000 people were evacuated as a result of the blaze, but they were all able to return home by Thanksgiving. No homes were lost. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
