College Nursing Program On South Coast Gets Major New Grant For Scholarships

A nursing program on the South Coast is getting a major new grant to beef up its scholarship program.

Cal State Channel Islands is receiving $200,000 from the Grossman Community Foundation.

The Foundation gave the Camarillo based university $100,000 last year for nursing scholarships, but is adding the additional money as part of an effort to address the ongoing shortage of health care professionals.

The Grossman Community Foundation is named after the late Dr. Richard Grossman, a Ventura County resident who was a pioneer in the treatment of burn victims.
