Big Rig Crash Closes Section Of Highway 101 On South Coast

A big rig crash has closed a section of Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County.

A jackknifed big rig shut down southbound lanes of the highway at Santa Claus Lane in Carpinteria.  The accident happened just after 1:30 Monday afternoon.  Surface streets are also jammed in the area, as people try to avoid the crash scene.

The northbound 101 remains open.  There's no word on injures.  A SigAlert has been issued, with no word on when the southbound 101 will reopen.
