An actor best known for being part of the hit television program “The Carol Burnett Show” has died at his home in Ventura County. Lyle Waggoner appeared in shows like “Gunsmoke” as a guest star. He was a finalist to play Batman in the TV series before Adam West was selected for the role. In 1967, he joined the Carol Burnett show, spending seven years as the show’s announcer and a performer.
After leaving that show, he became a co-star on the dramatic action hero show “Wonder Woman”. Waggoner was also a successful businessman. In the 1970’s, he founded a “Star Waggons,” which supplies high end trailers for actors to use on location shoots.
Waggoner died at his Westlake Village home as the result of cancer. He was 84 years old.
