With Vin Scully at the 2007 Golden Mikes Award Show in Los Angeles, where he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

In December of 2021, Vin Scully talked with KCLU's Lance Orozco. In this web extra, we bring you highlights of the conversation.

Legendary broadcaster Vin Scully was a military veteran, and he loved to take time to salute veterans in the crowd during game broadcasts.

After he retired in 2016, he lent his distinctive voice to the Ventura County's Gold Coast Veterans Foundation. The Foundation helps homeless veterans in the county, and is trying to build a veterans village with housing and services. Scully recovered a series of public service organizations for the organization.

In December of 2021, KCLU's Lance Orozco talked with Scully about his veterans related efforts. But, they also talked baseball. This web-only exclusive has that conversation, along with highlights of one of the late announcer's favorite game calls.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
