Central Coast City Gets New Police Chief

A law enforcement officer with two decades of experience has been selected as a Central Coast city’s new police chief.

Jeff Smith is expected to become Pismo Beach’s new top law enforcement officer in April.  Smith has been with the San Luis Obispo Police Department for 18 years, working his way up through the ranks.

Most recently, he’s been serving as the San Luis Interim Police Chief, while that city looks for a new head of its department.

The Pismo Beach City Council is expected to finalize the appointment in early April, and after that he’ll step into the post.  Smith will take over for Jake Miller, who retired after spending more than 25 years with the department.
