A day at the beach ended in tragedy for some surfers on the South Coast.
One surfer is dead, and a second was hurt after they apparently collided in the ocean off the Ventura County coastline.
The accident happened Saturday afternoon off of Rincon Point. Witnesses told authorities that after the collision, a nurse who happened to be on the beach started emergency first aid on Gerry Gilhool.
The Ojai man died a short time later at a hospital.
