Man Escapes Police During Car Case In Ventura County, But Police Say They Track Him Down

A man who apparently thought he successfully eluded police during a car chase earlier this week is now behind bars in Ventura County.

Oxnard Police officers say they tried to stop a car for a traffic violation on Oxnard Boulevard Monday afternoon.  The driver refused to stop, and led officers on a chase through The Collection shopping center, and onto Highway 101.

They lost sight of the vehicle, which ended the pursuit.  But, police say they were able to identify the driver.

They got a search warrant and tried to arrest Brandon Guerra Friday.  They say he fled on foot, and then fought with officers.  The 36-year-old man was arrested after a brief struggle.  The Oxnard man is facing charges from the car chase, resisting arrest, and illegal possession of a baton.
