Ventura County prosecutors say they’ve reached a million-dollar settlement in a long running battle with a landlord over substandard living conditions at a Thousand Oaks apartment complex.
Prosecutors say the Warwick Avenue complex owned by Ashok Sharma had ongoing rodent, roach, electrical and plumbing issues. They say the fight to bring the complex into compliance with health and safety regulations lasted more than 15 years.
A judge issued a restraining order in 2019 which led to upgrades bringing the building into compliance.
As a part of the settlement, Sharma sold the complex. The stipulations of the settlement include civil penalties, as well as reimbursement of the costs of the investigation.
