Red Flag Warnings Still In Place On South Coast, But Wind Predicted To Ease Friday
There are Red Flag Warnings for elevated brush fire danger for parts of the South Coast, but the Santa Ana wind conditions prompting the concern are now expected to ease earlier than expected. The potential brush fire concerns led to Public Safety Power Shutoffs for around 3,000 Ventura County customers on Thanksgiving Day.
The Red Flag Warnings are in place for much of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties through 6 p.m. Friday. But, the warnings will remain in effect for Ventura County's mountains, and valleys until 6 p.m. Saturday.
The latest forecast information shows the wind could ease by midday Friday.
Some 14,000 Southern California Edison customers in mostly rural areas of Ventura County were notified they could by hit by precautionary power shutoffs, with around 3,000 impacted Thursday. Warnings went out to parts of the Fillmore, Santa Paula, Camarillo, Moorpark, and Simi Valley areas. The shutoffs were centered near Moorpark and Simi Valley.
