"KCLU News At 7 AM With Willa Sandmeyer"

KCLU is the NPR radio station serving a section of the California coastline, including all of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.

We have one full time newsperson, two part time anchors and a stringer in Santa Barbara.  KCLU's hallmark is local news, especially because we have to compete with Los Angeles NPR stations which have signals in our market.  We produce 10 daily local newscasts, a daily long-form news story for morning drive, and extensive live coverage during things like wildfires and floods.

We also incorporate stories from our Sacramento bureau (a collaborative between the state's stations), to cover state stories that commercial stations don't have the resources to cover.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
