Governor Signs Into Law Legisation From Ventura County Assembly Member Intended To Help Veterans

The Governor has signed into law two bills from a Ventura County legislator intended to help veterans.

AB 240 would tighten restrictions for use of land at the state’s eight veterans homes.  A 2019 audit show that some of the property had been leased to other interests under terms which violated state law.

And, AB 3371 would require the state Department of Public Health to add more information to its reporting on veteran suicides.  The hope is the additional information would aid in prevention efforts.

The bills were authored by Democratic State Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin of Thousand Oaks.
