The governor signed into law a bill from a Ventura County legislator intended to provide more assistance for aging members of the LGBTQ community.

AB 2719 adds sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression to the priority list for California Department of Aging programs and services. The legislation was authored by Democratic Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin of Thousand Oaks.

With the percentage of people over 60 in the state growing, it’s estimated the aging LGBTQ could double by 2030.
