(City of Santa Maria photo)
A more than $850,000 project to remodel a popular Central Coast park is now complete.

A $850,000 dollar project to give a Central Coast park a makeover is now complete, but the park isn't quite ready to reopen for use yet.  Santa Maria's Russell Park has a new playground, new restrooms, revamped lighting, redone trails and sidewalks, and water efficient landscaping.

While the work is done, the park remains closed for now because the lawn areas were completely reseeded.

Crews want the newly seeded lawn areas to grow to the point where they can hold up to foot traffic.  Depending on the weather, the nearly two acre park could potentially oepn as soon as December 1st.
