Three South Coast Schools Receive National Recognition For Excellence

Three South Coast schools are among 36 in California receiving national recognition for excellence.

The U.S. Department of Education is honoring the three schools in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties with its National Blue Ribbon Award.  The awards recognize overall academic achievement or progress in closing achievement gaps among students.

Two Thousand Oaks schools received the honor.  They are Meadows Arts & Technology Elementary School and Weathersfield Elementary School.

In Santa Barbara County, Montecito Union Elementary School received a 2020 National Blue Ribbon award.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
