A San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's deputy was wounded, and a wanted felon was shot to death as the result of two officers involved shootings in the Templeton area.

A Central Coast sheriff’s deputy was wounded, and the man suspected of shooting him is dead.  It happened Thursday morning in Templeton.  San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle being driven by a wanted felon.

Deputies say the man fled from the vehicle on foot into a nearby cemetery, where he ambushed the officers, hitting one of them in the leg.  More officers arrived on the scene, and there was a second gunfight as the man tried to return to his vehicle on Theater Drive.

The deputies shot and killed the man.  His name hasn’t been released, but investigators say he was a convicted felon and member of a white supremacist gang.

The wounded deputy is reported to be in stable condition after being airlifted to a hospital.
