An unarmed Minuteman III missile is test lauched from Vandenberg Air Force Base Wednesday

An unarmed intercontinental ballistic missile has been successfully test launched from the Central Coast.

The Air Force test launched a Minuteman III missile from Vandenberg Air Force Base early Wednesday morning.

It took off at 12:02 a.m., at the very beginning of the six hour window for the takeoff.  It's the latest in a series of ongoing test flights from the base to test crew and equipment readiness.  The missile flew to a test range in the South Pacific.

It's the second Minuteman test flight from the base in less than a month.
