Suspected Mail Thief Arrested After Chase, Search On Central Coast

An alert sheriff’s deputy on the Central Coast has led to the arrest of a man suspected of a series of mail thefts.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputy was patrolling the Vandenberg Village area Monday morning when he saw a vehicle matching the description of one used in some of the thefts.  When the deputy tried to stop the truck, the driver crashed into a mailbox and fled on foot.

A search was started.  After about two hours later Andy Aguilera of Lompoc was arrested as he was trying to enter the backyard of a home.

The 32 year old man is facing multiple charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm, and other charges.
