Prosecutors Say Owner Of Home Buying Company Pleads Guilty To Fraud In Ventura County

It’s getting ugly for a man who owns a “We Buy Ugly Homes” franchise.  Corey Evans pled guilty to attempted grand theft charges in Ventura County, after prosecutors say he provided false information to two elderly homeowners as part of efforts to buy their homes.

The Santa Clarita man is co-owner of a company called “HomeVestors,” which offers to buy homes for cash in as-is condition.

Prosecutors say the 41 year old man gave false information to the victims, who were both Camarillo residents in their 70’s.  When the victims tried to cancel their contracts, HomeVestors put liens on their homes and threatened lawsuits.

Prosecutors say Evans is going to have to pay restitution, and remove all liens from the homes when he’s sentenced next month.
