Authorities are investigating the death of a Ventura County jail inmate.
Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies say Brian Masterson was unresponsive in his cell at the county’s Pre-Trial Detention Facility Sunday night. There was no one else in the cell with the 35-year-old man.
Deputies started first aid, and called jail medical staff. The Palos Verdes man was taken to a Ventura hospital, where he died Tuesday night.
There’s no word yet on what may have led to the inmate’s death. An autopsy is pending.
