Authorities are releasing new details about the officer involved fatal shooting of a gunman who had gone a rampage at a Central Coast shopping center.

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's detectives are now identifying the gunman as a Kern County man.  On Friday, law enforcement officers were called to a shopping center on the 500 block of West Tefft Street in Nipomo by reports of shots being fired.

Investigators say Scott Huffman fired several shots at a convenience store, some businesses across the street, and even a passing fire truck, which was hit multiple times.  They say he ducked into the store, and fired more shots.

When he came outside, Sheriff's deputies and CHP officers shot and killed the 42 year old man.  No one else was hurt.  Detectives say they still aren't sure what prompted the attack.
