Police say they arrested a man for carjacking one vehicle and trying to carjack a second in Ventura County.

Oxnard Police say it started late Friday night, when Jose Torres approached the owner of a car on the 1800 block of North Rose Avenue, and simulated a weapon.  Investigators say the victim stepped away, and Torres man stole the vehicle.

Officers say the stolen vehicle was involved in a hit and run collision a few blocks away.  No one was seriously injured.  They say Torres fled.

A few minutes later, police say they received word of another carjacking attempt, on Gonzales Road.  They say it again involved Torres, but this time victim was able to prevent Torres from taking the car keys.  The 24-year-old man was arrested on carjacking, attempted carjacking and hit and run charges.
