Ventura County Man Enters Guilty Plea To Murder Charge For Fatal Drive-By Shooting In Conejo Valley

A Ventura County man faces a potential 50-years-to-life prison sentence after pleading guilty to first degree murder for a drive-by shooting.

Prosecutors say Caden Crowell of Camarillo was driving through Newbury Park when he shot David Smith to death.

The 19-year-old victim was skateboarding down a street.

The Thousand Oaks man died at the scene.

Crowell pled guilty to first degree murder for the November, 2017 killing.  The 21-year-old Camarillo man also admitted using a gun to commit the murder.  He’ll be sentenced in October.
