Some Major Projects Connected To The Widening Of Highway 101 On South Coast Set To Open

Key parts of a project to eventually widen a section of Highway 101 and the South Coast have just been completed.

The highway is being widened from two to three lanes between Carpinteria and Montecito.  To help set the stage for the project, some bridges had to be replaced in Carpinteria.

Caltrans is opening new Linden Avenue, and Casitas Pass Road overcrossings in Carpinteria Friday.  The overpasses are wider, include signals instead of stop signs, and are bike and pedestrian friendly.

A new roundabout at Ogan Road will also open Friday, as will the new Carpinteria Creek Bike Path.  A section of Via Real between Linden and Casitas Pass Road is set to reopen in a few weeks.
