About 100 people were involved in search and rescue efforts for Naya Rivera at Lake Piru Wednesday. With the search turning into recovery efforts for her body Thursday, dive teams from multiple counties came to the lake to assist.

Authorities now think an actress who starred in the T-V series “Glee” drowned while swimming in a Ventura County lake.  A search and rescue mission started for the missing woman Wednesday turned into a recovery effort to find her body Thursday.  Investigators still don’t know exactly what happened to Naya Rivera.

Rivera rented a boat at Lake Piru Wednesday.  She took her four year old son Josey swimming.  But, a few hour later the boy was found asleep and alone in the boat.  He was wearing a life preserver.  An adult life preserver was also found in the boat, as was the woman’s purse.  Surveillance video from the dock shows the two were the only people in the boat.

Captain Eric Buschow, with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, says the wind and strong currents can kick up sometimes, creating dangerous conditions.

The 33 year old actress from Los Angeles is best known for her role in the musical drama and comedy series “Glee.”
