Firefighters aided by air tankers were able to stop a nearly 700 acre brush fire in Santa Barbara County before it could reach homes

A brush fire which threatened homes and ranches, and closed a Central Coast highway is now fully contained.

The Drum fire started Sunday off of Highway 246 west of Buellton.  The blaze prompted some evacuation orders, and closed Highway 246 for several hours.

Firefighters aided by air tankers and helicopters were able to protect homes, with evacuation orders lifted Sunday night.

No structures were damage.  The fire burned just under 700 acres of land.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
