Firefighters continue to battle a Central Coast brush fire which at one point prompted evacuation orders. The orders have been lifted, and no structures have been reported lost.

Containment is now up to 60% on a Central Coast brush fire which had one point prompted evacuation orders for area residents.  The Drum Fire began just before one Sunday afternoon in the hills west of Buellton.  The 600 acre fire is burning north of Highway 246, near Drum Canyon Road.

The fire initially created concern for some homes and ranch buildings, prompting evacuation orders.  But, firefighters aided by air tankers and helicopter were able to protect the structures, and the orders were lifted before sunset last night.

Highway 246 was also closed for several hours yesterday, but reopened before sunset.

There’s no word yet on the cause of the fire.
