Coronavirus Turns South Coast Fundraiser For Crime Victims Into Virtual Event

A more than two-decade-old foot race which raises money for crime victims on the Central and South Coasts is morphing into an online event this year.

The State Street Mile won’t be taking place as an onsite event in downtown Santa Barbara this year due to coronavirus concerns.

But organizers are hoping people will still register and take part in their own personal versions of the event.

While it’s called the State Street Mile, some participants walk, jog, or even bring the baby along in a stroller.

Profits from the event raise money for the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Crime Victim Emergency Fund.  You can register for the event here.
